Portrait of Engr Suleman Hakeem

I’m a civil engineer with 4+ years across highways, bridges, and infrastructure, currently working as a Site Engineer with China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC) on the Dasu Hydropower Project — one of Pakistan’s most significant hydropower developments.

My work sits at the intersection of drawing and dirt: reading shop drawings and bar bending schedules in the morning, then walking the deck to check rebar spacing, formwork alignment, and concrete pours against them in the afternoon. Quality, safety, and progress are the three things I answer for on any given day at KKH‑2.

Before joining the Dasu site, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at Iqra National University, Peshawar, with a final‑year research focus on stabilizing expansive soil.

K37 Looter Bridge

A reinforced‑concrete arch carrying the realigned Karakoram Highway across the Indus gorge at the Dasu dam site.

The bridge carries the KKH‑2 realignment across a narrow gorge on the Indus, directly downstream of the Dasu dam works — a reinforced‑concrete arch founded on piled abutments driven deep into rock.

As Site Engineer, my work on K37 has run from rebar cage fabrication and pier bent cap reinforcement through arch ring closure to deck concrete pours — checking every stage against the shop drawings before it gets signed off.

Workers placing concrete on the bridge deck
Deck concrete pour, full crew on the slab
Reinforcement mesh being tied across the arch spandrel
Spandrel reinforcement, tied to drawing
Two site engineers at the K37 bridge deck
Rebar cage inspection, deck level
Achievement

K37 Looter Bridge, complete

The finished arch, carrying the realigned Karakoram Highway across the Indus gorge.

Completed K37 Looter arch bridge spanning the Indus gorge
Shop drawings for the Looter Bridge pier bent cap, laid out on site with marking pens
Field notes

Every pour starts on paper.

Bar bending schedules, skewback reinforcement layouts, weld notes — before a single cage goes into formwork, it’s checked against the DASU‑KKH‑02 shop drawings on site, marker in hand.

05 / Education

Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering

Iqra National University, Peshawar

BSc Civil Engineering — 2018 – 2022

Coursework spanned structural analysis, geotechnical and foundation engineering, reinforced concrete design, hydrology and water supply, highway and traffic engineering, and engineering surveying.
